English Partnerships announced the appointment of the developers for Lawley in October 2005. George Wimpey UK, Persimmon and Barratt Homes were chosen after making a joint bid to develop the 70 ha site. The consortium will be known as the Lawley Developers Group.

Lawley presents one of the most exciting and challenging schemes facing the West Midlands if not the whole of England. English Partnerships is keen to work with Lawley Developers Group to deliver this landmark scheme which will change the face of Telford.

Lawley Developers Group will work together with English Partnerships and its partner agencies in a long term commitment to deliver a lasting change to Lawley as well as Telford and the wider hinterland. This challenging scheme seeks to set standards of a high quality design, construction and delivery and significantly contribute to the economic, social and environmental objectives of the area.

The appointment of a chosen partner followed the submission of a detailed Stage 2 bid, which followed Stage 1 Expressions of Interest. Short–listed organisations were asked to submit detailed bids to English Partnerships and following appraisals of the bid Lawley Developers Group was appointed to take forward the creation of the Lawley project.
